Medway Council has adopted a new Financial Assistance Policy to help with the funding of adaptations to the homes of people with disabilities.

This is to provide essential adaptations such as access to and from a home, and bathing facilities.

This works alongside the Disabled Facilities Grant system, providing additional funds for larger more complex adaptations.

Adaptations to these homes can greatly improve the resident's quality of life. They can enable people to have better use of their home, give them access to the community and promote a more independent lifestyle.

The policy also includes provision of emergency grants and loans for homeowners to help with essential repairs. These could include repairs to:

  • roofs
  • windows
  • electrics
  • heating
  • hot water.
