To view a list of newspapers and magazines indexed click here Medway Archives and Local Studies Centre has been maintaining a card index of articles on the Medway area for many years. The index is now searchable here and it is hoped it will prove valuable to anyone interested in the history of the area. Although the majority of the articles cover the period from 1960s to present day, articles on many key events, people, places and buildings have been indexed from earlier newspapers, the earliest being 1830. The newspapers are mostly held on microfilm and can be viewed at the Studies Centre and in some cases also at Gillingham reference library. Please note however that a microfilm reader will need to be booked in advance to look at these so please contact the nearest library before visiting. Articles from a selection of magazines on local history are also included in the index and the originals of these can be consulted at the Studies Centre.
