Help following bereavement

There is a lot to sort out following a bereavement and the most pressing things are often financial matters.

If you are responsible for the funeral arrangements and you or your partner are in receipt of certain low income benefits you may be entitled to a funeral payment.

Other financial help is available in certain circumstances. This includes: bereavement payments, bereavement allowance, widowed parent's allowance and guardian's allowance.

Find further information about bereavement financial help on GOV.UK.

The need for probate is dependant on the size of the estate rather than the existence of a will. Financial organisations will tell you if they need a grant of probate or letters of administration. Find further information about wills and inheritance on GOV.UK.
