- Medway consists of Chatham, Gillingham, Rainham, Rochester and
Strood.
- Medway is the largest urban area in the south-east outside
London.
- The Medway economy is worth around £2.8billion per year and
has an estimated 13,000 businesses.
- The population of Medway is 263,900 (2011 census) and is
expanding to a city of around 280,000 people by 2028.
- Medway is part of the Thames Gateway Regeneration Programme –
the largest development project in Europe - that will create new
opportunities for business expansion and inward investment.
Medway’s economy has a targeted growth rate of twice the national
average and is expected to create 21,500 jobs by 2028.
- Medway is conveniently located and benefits from comprehensive
transport links with Europe and the UK. Medway benefits from having
access to the M2, M20 and M25, the Channel Tunnel Rail Link
domestic services and a trans-global seaport.
