Business grants
Medway Council encourages innovation, supports new and existing
businesses that want to grow and helps those planning to move to
Medway. This page contains some of the funding available both from
the Council and outside organisations.
Council assistance
Partners for Growth (PFG)
The PFG scheme was started in 1994 and was designed to help
businesses by providing a package of funding and free business
advice. The PFG loan scheme still runs today and has helped many of
Medway's well established companies. In 2009, the PFG start-up
grant was introduced; a one off payment to help Medway residents
kick start their business.
- The PFG loan scheme ideally requires the company to
have fewer than 50 employees and to have more than two years
of successful trading.
- The PFG start-up grant is open for application to any Medway
resident with a full-time business.

Medway Business Awards
The awards (www.mbawards.co.uk/), now in their
26th year, have become Medway’s premier business accolade. They
offer the opportunity for a business to stand out and to gain
recognition for the hard work and innovation shown by its managers
and employees.
The awards offer a cash prize fund of £5,000. All the finalists
receive a certificate of achievement and excellent free publicity
from the Medway Messenger. It is a great public relations
opportunity and boosts staff morale.
Eligible businesses include those:
- located in the Medway Council area;
- with a turnover of less than £5.6million per annum;
- that have been trading for at least 12 months before the
awards.
