Approval procedure
An application for approval must be made with the appropriate
application pack (pdf 536KB). To use this file you will need
Adobe Acrobat Reader. If you do not have this on your computer
please use our advice

- The Trading Standards Service will acknowledge membership
application requests within seven working days of
receipt.
- Assessments of applicants will in most cases involve an
inspection of the business premises, procedures, documents and
products.
- Any business that does not meet the terms and conditions of the
scheme may not be eligible to join it, unless the business is
willing to make changes to meet criteria within an agreed
period.
To assess the applicant's suitability to join the scheme, the
service may:
- require the production of customer details to seek
references for the business;
- carry out criminal record and/or County Court judgement
checks;
- consult with the Trading Standards database to check against
any previous consumers' complaints about a business.
