The GAPS initiative

Grow your business with a £2,000 subsidy

If you have a gap in your business for an apprentice, then Medway Council will help fund a placement that can increase your productivity and long-term security.

The new GAPS initiative provides direct support to small and medium-sized businesses in Medway that are looking to recruit apprentices. As long as your business fits certain criteria, then Medway Council will contribute £2,000 towards the overall wage and/or training costs of employing an apprentice.

Your business needs to be in:

  • Construction
  • Engineering and manufacturing
  • Horticulture
  • Sports and leisure
  • Creative and digital industries
  • Retail and business administration
  • Travel and tourism
  • Environmental technologies
  • Care

It also must:

  • Be based in Medway and have fewer than 50 employees
  • Have been trading for more than two years

You can receive subsidies for a maximum of two apprentices. There are a limited number of subsidies available in total, so get in touch today and find out how Medway Council can help grow your business.

This project is co-financed by Medway Council and Interreg IVA 2 Sea Programme.
