Creative industries

Medway has many facilities for the creative industries, including business centres, a university, and many cafés and social spots.

The Department for Culture, Media and Sport defines the creative industries as those that have their “origin in individual creativity, skill and talent which have a potential for job and wealth creation through the generation and exploitation of intellectual property”. Job roles within the creative industries can range from architect to graphic designer and from software designer to musician.

Medway Council's Economic Development Strategy recognises the creative industries as one of the key sectors to be developed and as part of the council's commitment, a Creative Industries Task Group has been established.
