Licences and street trading
Medway Council's Licensing Unit issues several types of licences
and permits. However, we are not responsible for all types of
licences and permits throughout the council.
The licensing unit can provide advice on procedures in applying
for licences, permits and making payments.
We licence and enforce the following:

Police Clauses Act 1847 and Local Government (Miscellaneous
Provisions) Act 1976

Gambling Act 2005
- Charity
Collections - Police, Factories, etc. (Miscellaneous
Provisions) Act 1916, House to House Collections Act 1939 and
House to House Collections Regulations 1947
- Motor Salvage
- Vehicles (Crime) Act 2001 and Motor Salvage Operators Regulations
2002
- Scrap Metal -
Scrap Metal Dealers Act 1964
- Street
Trading - Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act
1982
- Pleasure
Boats - Public Health Acts Amendment Act 1907
- Sex
Establishments - Under Schedule 3 of the Local Government
(Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982 as amended by Policing
and Crime Act 2009
