There is going to be a huge celebration when not one, not two, but three different soul acts roll into Medway for Castle Concerts 2008. Our Soul Party is something not to be missed as some of the best performers around sing in Rochester Castle Gardens.
Headlining the gig is the incredible Edwin Starr Band featuring Angelo Starr. Angelo is the late Edwin Starr’s brother. He is a musician of excellent pedigree, having toured for many years with Edwin and more recently with Lemar and Alexander O’Neal.
The rest of the band is just as musically talented and together they are an infectious combination of soul and funk that defy any audience not to dance and have a great time. The Edwin Starr Band featuring Angelo Starr has toured all over the world.
Performing with the band at Soul Party is the amazing Brenda Edwards. Brenda is a friend of Castle Concerts, having performed there for the past two years. After some massive vocal performances on the TV show X-Factor, Brenda found herself in the talent show’s semi-final. And the rest, as they say, is history.
Since appearing on the show, Brenda has toured extensively, appeared in front of 40,000 people at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff and performed three live dates in New York. She also played a starring role in the West End musical Chicago. Last year she started recording her debut album.
And finally, the unmistakable sound of The Soul Traders will be heard throughout the Castle Gardens. The band, which has been together for more than 20 years, is no stranger to Castle Concerts and with every appearance, respect for The Soul Traders’ musicianship grows and grows. With The Soul Traders you are most definitely guaranteed a party. The band’s range of soul, funk and Motown classics just make you want to dance.
