Sold out
When they were in Medway last time, they most definitely rocked the house. And now, Castle Concerts are delighted to welcome back the legend that is Status Quo.
The Quo's last performance at Castle Concerts in 2005 sold out in days.
The gig was the fastest-selling in the history of the concert series. It was a truly memorable night, as thousands of people of all ages experienced that Quo magic.
The band has a world-wide devoted fan base. The original line-up in 1967 included Francis Rossi, Rick Parfitt, John Coghlan, Roy Lynes and Alan Lancaster.
Over the years the line-up has changed but Rossi and Parfitt have remained constant throughout. Indeed they were there when the band notched up its first two top 10 hits in 1968 (Pictures of Matchstick Men and Ice in the Sun).
At the time of the Quo’s last visit to Medway, Rick Parfitt said: “The first thing we thought when we got off the tour bus was what amazing scenery. It’s always a pleasure to play live, no matter whether the crowd is 4,000 or 100,000. Rochester Castle is such a great setting for a concert, it’s beautiful.’’
Quo’s debut album was called Picturesque Matchstickable Messages. Over the next couple of years the band hardened its sound and became accepted as a genuine hard rock band.
And what happened after that is history, really.
Quo’s hits just rolled out one after another and included Rockin' All Over the World, Whatever You Want, Something ‘Bout You Baby I Like, Rock ‘n’ Roll, The Wanderer, Burning Bridges and Jam Side Down.
The band’s 2008 visit to Rochester Castle Gardens is part of the In Search of the Fourth Chord tour. The album, In Search of the Fourth Chord, was released last year.
It features the band’s trademark no-nonsense rock and roll style and Parfitt and Rossi’s sense of fun, energy and passion is very evident throughout every track.
By the time the Quo gets to Medway, the band will have already toured Holland, Switzerland, Norway and Denmark. We are proud to welcome their return to Medway.
