Medway Register Office service standards

The service has the following aims:

  • our receptionist will see you within five minutes;
  • if you have an appointment, to see you within 10 minutes of your appointment time;
  • if you do not have an appointment, to make an appointment for you or tell you what time we can see you;
  • to arrange an appointment to give a notice of marriage or civil partnership within five working days;
  • to arrange an appointment to register a birth within three working days;
  • to arrange an appointment to register a death within two working days;
  • to arrange an appointment to register a stillbirth within two working days;
  • giving a notice of marriage or civil partnership will take up to 45 minutes;
  • registering a birth will take approximately 30 minutes;
  • registering a death will take approximately 30 minutes;
  • to issue 90 per cent of copy certificates of birth, death and marriage records at the counter within seven days;
  • to deal with 90 per cent of certificate applications by post within two working days.
