Our preparations include:

  • 5,000 tonnes of salt stockpiled
  • Eight salting vehicles
  • 388 salt bins
  • 4x4 vehicles available to reach those in more rural areas.

Public transport

School closures

In the event of severe weather please visit the website of your school in the first instance for information on school closures. Local media, including BBC Radio Kent, also carry updates. Visit our school closure page for other links to local radio and news sites carrying school closure information.

Need to know if your local library or contact point will be open or closed? Visit the service closures page for the most up-to-date information.

Work

If severe weather is preventing you getting to work, make sure you know your rights as an employee and know what is reasonably expected of you.

Health 

Housing

Medway Council together with our local partner agencies aims to ensure that any vulnerable people are protected and provided for during severe winter weather.  To let agencies know about housing, street homeless and/or people living rough call 01634 333757.

There is also a rough sleeper alert operated by the Medway Cyrenians.
