We have a community team who have mobilised into hard-to-reach
areas for the benefit of individuals who are isolated, without
relatives close by. Our dedicated team of staff and volunteers
are enablers, trained and qualified to deliver services for the
benefit of older people.
All staff and volunteers must undergo reference and criminal
record bureau checks to be able to work with vulnerable older
people. We also encourage our staff to ask for specialist
tuition in all areas of the ageing process. Enablers must
enjoy working with, and listening to older people. We value
feedback from our clients so that we can be assured we are
providing the services they need and want. New visitors are
always welcomed, invited to drop in, and are given a tour of the
premises and comprehensive information. Staff are happy for
people to drop in to see for themselves. unannounced, and are
always ready to answer questions you may have.
The Hopewell Centre is a great place to volunteer and volunteer
staff retention is excellent. Age Concern Chatham offers
placements to local universities and health and social care college
students who work alongside our skilled and trained staff to learn
about the age process and how to put older people at the centre of
their care.
Age Concern Chatham treats everyone as an individual, with
dignity and respect, and aims to enable people to retain skills for
safe and independent lives. It values feedback as it helps the
charity to improve its services and to develop new programmes of
interest.
