Medway Age Concern
Medway Age Concern provides a variety of care and support
services to older people living in Medway.
Day services
It operates day centres in Gillingham and Strood, providing
social interaction, a nutritious hot meal, activities and day
trips.
Activities available include:
- computer and internet;
- Nintendo Wii and DS;
- arts and crafts;
- cards, games, bingo and quizzes;
- day and afternoon trips;
- visiting entertainers.
The centres are open Monday - Friday 9.30am to 4.30pm to
60-year-olds and older. Transport is available using a fleet of
fully equipped minibuses.
Services provided include:
- a falls prevention clinic;
- a Hi Kent hearing clinic (www.hikent.org.uk/);
- footcare;
- hairdressing;
- in-house bathing;
- a laundry service;
- insurance services (The Mackenney Centre is an Age Concern
insurance office);
- signposting.
Community care services
Medway Age Concern provides a range of community support
services from its office in the Historic Dockyard, including:
- personal care;
- meal preparation;
- domestic support;
- shopping;
- community bathing service;
- home from hospital.
