Medway Age Concern

Medway Age Concern provides a variety of care and support services to older people living in Medway.

Day services

It operates day centres in Gillingham and Strood, providing social interaction, a nutritious hot meal, activities and day trips.

Activities available include:

  • computer and internet;
  • Nintendo Wii and DS;
  • arts and crafts;
  • cards, games, bingo and quizzes;
  • day and afternoon trips;
  • visiting entertainers.

The centres are open Monday - Friday 9.30am to 4.30pm to 60-year-olds and older. Transport is available using a fleet of fully equipped minibuses.

Services provided include:

  • a falls prevention clinic;
  • a Hi Kent hearing clinic (www.hikent.org.uk/);
  • footcare;
  • hairdressing;
  • in-house bathing;
  • a laundry service;
  • insurance services (The Mackenney Centre is an Age Concern insurance office);
  • signposting.

Community care services

Medway Age Concern provides a range of community support services from its office in the Historic Dockyard, including:

  • personal care;
  • meal preparation;
  • domestic support;
  • shopping;
  • community bathing service;
  • home from hospital.
