Welcome Day Centre

The centre provides day care for older people and caters especially for black and minority ethnic groups. It is open from 9am to 4.30pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Vegetarian meals are cooked at the premises on a daily basis, for which there is a small fee. Transport can also be provided to and from the centre for all clients assessed as eligible, for which there is also a small fee.

Staff are sensitive to the cultural needs and religious beliefs of service users.

The Welcome Day Centre also provides the following services:

  • health, dental and hearing clinics;
  • foot care;
  • falls clinics;
  • yoga classes;
  • celebrations of different religious festivals;
  • day trips and outings to religious places (a small fee is charged to cover costs);
  • an interpreting service;
  • English classes;
  • loans of wheelchairs, walking sticks, walking frames and commodes;
  • benefits advice;
  • newspapers in foreign languages;
  • cards and games;
  • Asian TV and films;
  • sewing machines for dress making.
