How to have your say

Access to the decision-makers

Residents of Medway are represented at three levels, by:

There are also 11 parish councils responsible for local facilities in some parts of Medway.

Make your views known

There are several ways to make your views known so that councillors can take them into account when making decisions: You can:

  • write to, email or telephone either a ward councillor or a councillor who sits on the Cabinet or a committee which is to consider the matter;
  • submit your views on any item contained in the Cabinet's Forward plan of decisions;
  • ask a question at a council meeting.

Download Ask a question at council (pdf 124KB). To use the pdf, you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader. If you do not have this on your computer, please use our advice page.

The deadlines for the submission of questions to council meetings during the rest of 2011/12 (subject to approval by Full Council on 25 May 2011) are:

  • Thursday, 26 April 2012, submission deadline is Tuesday, 17 April 2012, 12noon.

We do not usually have public questions at the budget meeting in February.

Organise a petition calling for action on a specific issue and ask a councillor to present it at a meeting of the council. You will then receive a response and a right to ask for discussion of the matter at the relevant Overview and Scrutiny Committee if you are unhappy with the response.

Ask your councillor to raise a Councillor Call for Action on a local matter which has not been possible to resolve by other means.
