Community centres and social regeneration
Community centres as focal points for social regeneration
Medway Council is responsible for the management of four local
community centres across Medway. These are:
All these community centres have an important role to play and
contribute towards Medway’s programme of social regeneration, in
partnership with the local community and local stakeholder
organisations.
Community Centres at the forefront of Neighbourhood Action
Plans (NAPs)
Medway Council nominated two of its community centres to
champion NAPs, namely Woodside in Strood South and White Road on
the White Road Estate in Chatham. This was done through the
Community Futures workshops programme in addition to local
partnership initiatives with organisations such as the Sunlight
Development Trust and the Diocese of Rochester, through St Francis
of Assisi and St Nicholas parish churches. These NAPs also define
project actions for the expansion of community services at the
Woodside and White Road centres.
