Business Support Department
The Chief Executive is Neil
The Business Support department consists of three divisions,
which provide the following services:
Customer First, Democracy and Governance
||These teams are responsible for the
effective conduct of the council’s meetings and ensuring decisions
are recorded, communicated and acted upon.
- Leader of the Council's Office
|This office provides dedicated
support for Councillor
Rodney Chambers, the Leader of Medway Council.
- Members' and Mayoral Services
|These officers provide a support
service to councillors, together with advice, guidance and
practical support to the Mayor.
||The aim of the Customer First
Programme is to put the council's customers at the heart of
everything it does.
||This unit provides a single point of
contact for Medway’s customers, whether that contact is by phone
through the contact centre, face-to-face at receptions or
one-stop-shops or electronically.
||This team is responsible for the
management of the Chief Executive’s office. It also co-ordinates
corporate complaints and complaints to the Chief Executive
from the Local Government
||This team compiles and maintains the
register of electors and is responsible for the organisation of all
elections in Medway.
Communications, Performance and
||This team provides professional
advice and services to help council services communicate more
effectively. The team includes professionals from the media,
marketing, PR, design and website management fields.
||This team is responsible for
consultation, equalities, the local strategic partnership,
performance management and
sustainability policy and practice across the council.
||The aim of this team is to champion
customer-centred service change to improve the quality and at the
same time reduce the overall costs of the services provided by
Medway Council and its partners.
||The unit's role is to support Medway
Council and its partners in the voluntary and community sectors in
Medway to maximise the amount of external funding it can secure from a range of funders in
support of both the council's key investment priorities and the
needs of local communities.
