Your Council
Numbers on ballot papers have been in place since the Ballot Secrecy Act 1872 (www.electoralcommission.org.uk/document). They are used to prevent impersonation but can only be matched up with an elector by court order.
If you need help, the polling clerk can explain how to fill out your ballot.
For more information contact Electoral Services by telephone: 01634 332030 / Fax 01634 332416 or by email: electoralservices@medway.gov.uk
