How to pay the council
You can pay for lots of council services online using a debit or credit card. Pay online now
There is a wide range of ways to pay your bill,
including places where you can pay with cash.
Paying by direct debit or standing order
You can pay many council bills by direct debit
or standing order. It's safe, easy to set up and you won't risk
missing a payment. For more information phone:

Paying online with a debit or credit card
If you'd like to pay for the following services using a debit or
credit card, you can pay online anytime:
- council tax;
- business rates, National Non Domestic Rate (NNDR);
- fixed penalty notices;
- mortgages;
- parking fines (penalty charge notices or PCNs);
- social services invoices;
- service charges;
- housing benefit overpayments;
- housing rents;
- garage rents.

Friday 9am-4.30pm) or visit any Medway
Council contact point.
Paying by cheque
Send a cheque or postal order, made out to Medway Council,
to:

Please write your account reference number on the
back of your cheque. Receipts will only be sent where a stamped,
addressed envelope is included with your payment. Please don't send
cash by post. Paying by cash
You can pay your council rent by cash safely and securely using
an Allpay card at more than 40,000 conveniently situated outlets
nationwide, wherever you see a PayPoint or Pay Zone sign. There are
more than 50 outlets accepting payments in Gillingham. Search the
full list of outlets at www.allpay.net/outlets. If you
don't have an Allpay card, phone 01634 333500 for
more information.
You can also use cash to pay a wide range of council bills,
including council tax, business rates and rent, at post offices and
banks. Please use a payment slip from your payment book or the
tear-off slip from your bill. If paying into a bank, your cheque
should be made out to Medway Council. The bank may charge a fee for
this service. Please allow five working days for payment to reach
the council. If paying into a post office, your cheque should be
made out to Post Offices Ltd. Again, please allow five working days
for payment to reach the council.
Cash and cheques can also be deposited at Riverside One and Strood
Contact Point using the automated till. Payments must be made
using an appropriate payment slip or other information to identify
the payment.
