Mayor

For 2011/12, the Mayor of Medway is Cllr Ted Baker. His wife,
Mrs Sylvia Baker is the Mayoress.
Cllr Baker officially took up his duties as Mayor of Medway for
2011/12 on 25 May 2011, when he was elected at the Council's Annual
Meeting.
Representing Rochester West, Cllr Baker was first elected to the
City of Rochester Council in 1961. He has served on a variety of
committees throughout his career on the Council, including being
Mayor of Medway in 2002 and Deputy Mayor four times.
Cllr Baker was a compositor and became a Royal Marine serving in
40 Commando. He saw active service in Suez and Cyprus before
serving in the Royal Marine Reserve. He joined the Prison Service
in 1976, before retiring in 1993.
Cllr Baker is a Governor of Sir Joseph Williamson's Mathematical
School, a Trustee of The Rochester Grammar School, a Trustee of mhs
Charity Board and Chairman and Trustee of the ABC project,
Borstal.
In his spare time, he enjoys listening to music and spending fun
time with his grandchildren.

The Deputy Mayor and Mayoress are Cllr Ray Maisey and his
wife, Mrs Buffy Maisey.
