How to invite the Mayor

The Mayor is understandably in high demand to attend functions. As a result, the diary gets full very quickly, with the summer months and Christmas being the busiest. The Mayor always tries his best to fit in as many invitations as possible, however, though even the strongest of us need a day off every now and then.

Invitations can only be accepted if submitted in writing, by post or email, to the addresses below.

The invitation should be addressed to “The Worshipful Mayor of Medway, Cllr Vaughan Hewett” and should start “Dear Mr Mayor”.

While we in the Mayor's Office aim to reply to all invitations within 10 working days, sometimes it will take longer if we have to juggle the diary.  Once we accept your invitation, we will send you our Mayoral Questionnaire. This must be completed and returned to us a minimum of 10 days before the event.  Once we have it, we can organise the Mayor’s schedule to include your event.

As First Citizen of Medway, the Mayor must always be treated accordingly and there is a set protocol which has been laid down over the years. Our Mayoral Questionnaire clearly outlines this. If you are in any doubt, however, please do not hesitate to contact us and we will happily advise you.
