Digital Switchover

What is this?

TV across the UK is going digital. The existing analogue TV signal will be switched off and replaced with a new, stronger digital TV signal. Get set for digital logo

Where can I find out more?

The Digital UK website contains all you need to know. Digital UK is also running roadshows in Medway:

  • 10 March in Rochester
  • 16-17 March in Chatham
  • 23-24 March in Gillingham

When is the switchover happening?

It’s already begun across the country. The Meridian region is one of the last to change. Most residents in Medway get their signal from the Bluebell Hill transmitter. This will be switched over in two stages, on 13  June and 27 June. Find out more about switchover dates for the whole of the Meridian region.

What do I need to do?

If you have, Freeview, BT Vision or Top Up TV, you will need to retune your set.

If you have an analogue TV (five channels), you will need to convert your TV to digital.

If you have Sky TV, Virgin Media, freesat or Freesat from Sky, you don’t need to do anything.
