Performance and policy
Medway Council is committed to consulting its residents.
Democracy is at the heart of the way the council works. Initiatives
to consult the community are part of everything the council
does.
Medway Council has a set of core values and priorities which it upholds in
all the work that it does.
The Council Plan contains the
authority’s priorities and the actions that will be taken to
deliver them. The council uses a variety of mechanisms to measure
progress. Each year, in the Annual Report (published in Medway Matters), the council reviews
achievements of the past 12 months.
How well the council performs is also measured by external
bodies such as the Audit Commission.
The Freedom of Information Act also
imposes a number of obligations on councils and Medway Council is
committed to meeting them. Among the provisions are the public’s
right to access the wide range of council information and a
requirement to produce schedules detailing what types of
information will be available.
Customer First can be
your first stop for many council services. It operates local
contact points staffed by a team of
highly-trained officers who are able to deal with any
enquiry, service request or complaint about the services that
Medway Council offers.
