New ways of working
Apprenticeships
Over the past 10 months we have developed a number of
apprenticeship offers which will help employers to meet the
training needs of the new trainees. For
further details visit our Apprenticeship page.
Support for those seeking employment
If you have been made redundant recently or are at risk of
redundancy in the near future, we can support you with courses
especially designed to get you back into work as soon as possible.
For further details visit our Employability page.
If you are already out of work and feeling discouraged by the
shortage of opportunities, a brush up on your skills would enable
you to be more successful at getting interviews, see
our intensive
programme to get you started on the pathway to success.
Skills training for those in work
The workplace these days is a rapidly changing environment and
it pays to maintain your skills and gain qualifications you always
wish you’d had. Our Skills for Work programme offers a wide range
of work-related training from short courses through to NVQs and
other qualifications. For further details visit
our Enterprise and skills for work page.
If you need GCSE English or maths to take your training options
forward into higher education or other professional avenues please,
visit our GCSEs
and A Levels page for further information. GCSEs in
English and maths are free to those who have not yet achieved above
a D grade in these subjects.
Self-employment – our commitment to enterprise
Sometimes you may wish that you could be your own boss. We offer
a range of courses through our community programme which can help
you turn a hobby into a small business, which you can start from
your kitchen table. For further details visit
our Enterprise and skills page.
A course near you
We have always sought to be a community provider with a strong
base in the community. Our courses run from more than 50
different venues located all over Medway. This year we will be
setting up a new evening centre at Rainham School for Girls.
We are pleased to celebrate our on-going partnership with Employ
Medway.
We will be continuing our work with the libraries to run
computer training in local libraries. Check out our Library ICT course
listing (pdf, 8KB) for more information on ICT
courses available in your local libraries. To use this
file you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader. If you do not have it on
your computer, please use our advice page.
Some things never change
One of the things that will not change in 2012/13 is our
commitment to you to continue to run the courses you want in a safe
and welcoming environment. As well as the range of courses that you
can see in this directory we always endeavour to respond to the
wishes of our learners – if you cannot see a course that you would
like – let us know.
Every year we run many courses in response to what you want –
maybe an extension to a course that was so good you didn’t want it
to end or perhaps a new course at a particular venue that you
requested. If a particular course in the directory is full, we will
always start a waiting list, and, if there is sufficient demand we
will run an additional course.
We want to hear what you have to say. You can email HaveYourSay@medway.gov.uk to
let us know what you think.
Course Finder directory
Use course finder to
either search for courses available or check the times, dates and
locations of courses you’re interested in. You can also read,
download or print off course information sheets for more in-depth
information about the courses you’re interested in.
Improving access to learning
MACLS is committed to equal opportunities, changing attitudes
and behaviour and improving access to learning opportunities and
the levels of achievement of all groups, individuals and
communities.
