Local area

Medway is located at the heart of the Thames Gateway and is the
most successful urban area between London and continental Europe.
It is rapidly growing into the Gateway’s city of learning, culture,
tourism and enterprise.
Medway is less than 10 minutes from the M2 and M20 motorways and
is just 30 miles from central London. The area is also within a 55
minute drive of Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted international
airports.
Medway comprises the towns of Strood, Rochester, Chatham,
Gillingham and Rainham, as well as rural areas around Cuxton,
Halling and the Hoo Peninsula.
Almost a quarter of a million people live in Medway. The
population is younger than the south-east average with around 34
per cent younger than 24 years old.
