Implications of Disability Discrimination Act 1995 and Education Act 1996 for schools

The definition of disability is very broad and includes more pupils than many people think. A wide range of impairments is covered in the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 and Education Act 1996 for schools, including, for example, learning disabilities, dyslexia, diabetes and epilepsy. In these cases, the effect of the impairment on the pupil’s ability to carry out normal day-to-day activities is adverse, substantial and long-term.
