Information on collections
This page contains information intended mainly for use
by staff in Medway schools
Formula Funding
Formula Funding Guidance
The funding formula used by Medway Council as the Local
Authority (LA) for schools uses pupil attainment data to calculate
the Special Educational Needs (SEN) factor. So that the Finance
Team has the correct information to calculate each school's 2008/09
budget, they should complete the relevant spreadsheet. The
Management Information Team holds examination results for the
schools where the pupils sat their Key Stage tests. It does not
have a list of schools to which these children have since
transferred. This year, the team does not need pupil-level data but
does need the total number of children attaining specific
levels.
- Junior schools are requested to provide
information on their current Year 3 pupils.
- Secondary schools are requested to provide
information on their current Year 7 pupils.
If you have any questions, please contact the Management
Information Team using the details at the foot of the page.
Spring School Census
Spring Census Guidance
The spring school census is the largest of the three census
collections that take place each year and collects a variety of
data on both pupils and schools which is used for things such as
monitoring a school's performance or allocating funding.
If you have any further queries relating to the School Census,
please contact Management Information using the details at the foot
of the page.
If schools have any queries relating to School Information
Management System (SIMS), they should contact the EIS helpdesk:

Summer School Census
Summer Census Guidance
The summer census is a much smaller collection than the one that
takes place in January and only collects the basic pupil
information, such as attendance, ethnicity and address details. For
a more in-depth list of what is and is not collected in this
return, you can look at the summer census overview document, which
can be found with the rest of the guidance notes.
If schools have any queries relating to SIMS, they should
contact the EIS Helpdesk

Autumn School Census
Autumn Census Guidance
The autumn census, much like the summer census, is a much
smaller collection than the one that takes place in January and
only collects the basic pupil information, such as attendance,
ethnicity and address details.
For this collection, schools are being asked to submit their
returns direct to the Department for Children, Schools and Families
(DCSF) via the new COLLECT system rather then submitting it to the
LA. Instructions on how to do this can be found with the rest of
the guidance notes.
If schools have any queries relating to SIMS, they should
contact the EIS Helpdesk.
