Secondary admissions 2013
Transferring from primary to secondary school is an important
step and Medway Council wants to help parents by giving them clear
information about the transfer process and about Medway Council
schools. Children normally transfer to secondary school in the
September after their 11th birthday.
Each secondary school produces its own prospectus which contains
detailed information about the school, how it is run, and what is
taught. These prospectuses are available from schools
themselves.
Schools also run open days and evenings where parents will be
able to take a closer look at the school, meet pupils and staff,
and ask questions. Parents can visit as many schools as they like
to help them make up their minds about which school they would
prefer for their child. Schools want to work in partnership with
parents and will welcome enquiries.
To assist parents in understanding the admissions
process, Medway Council produces information in
the Admission to Secondary School Booklet
2013. This contains details of each of the
secondary schools and information on how to make your school
application.
