Keeping Medway clean, green and safe

The council works to reduce waste and pollution and conserve natural resources. We all need to recycle more and we need to dispose of other rubbish in the best way, for example, by taking an old television to the nearest council recycling centre or using the council's free collection service to remove an old sofa. The council's Banish Rubbish campaign message is simple - clearing litter, illegally dumped cars and furniture costs money that could be put to better use.

Find out what you can do by making small lifestyle changes that can go a long way to reducing your carbon footprint.

Traffic and travel
If you use public transport you may be interested in the bus passes offered by the council, as well as advice if you have mobility problems. Road-users can check for roadworks, and the winter road weather forecast before leaving home. The council keeps the roads clear of litter, leaves and dead animals and you can report these to the council from this website.

Find out where to park in Medway and about parking permits or the Blue Badge Scheme for people with a disability. There is information too if you prefer to cycle or walk to get about.

Planning and preserving the built environment
Medway Council provides information and about planning in partnership with the government Planning Portal (www.planningportal.gov.uk) or you can contact a council planner for advice. Once you have submitted an application, you can track its progress online.

A safe environment
Medway Council's Environmental Enforcement Team work in partnership with Kent Police and others to combat the kind of behaviour that can ruin our environment. You can help us by reporting incidents to the council as soon as possible using an online form for graffiti, abandoned cars or fly posting or use the full list of online forms

Medway Council takes a pride in working to keep Medway clean and green. Its Frontline Taskforce co-ordinates the teams that do this.
