Service standards
Greenspace Services is committed to achieving continuous
improvement in the standards of maintenance of sites.
This is achieved through the following:
The
ranger team provides a uniformed management service for the
Greenspace Estate seven days a week. The Ranger Service manages
Capstone Farm Country Park and Riverside Country Park, as well
monitoring all other Medway Greenspaces, following
the Ranger Service
Charter (pdf 107KB) that establishes operational standards
for the Country Parks and Countryside estate of Greenspaces. To use
this file you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader. If you do not have it
on your computer, please use our advice page.
A separate charter is in the process of being established for
Urban Greenspace Sites.
Greenspace Services monitors adherence to the following
contracts:
- playground maintenance;
- grounds maintenance;
- park locking and unlocking.
Playground maintenance contract
All play areas are dog free and inspected daily (Monday to
Friday) for litter and damaged equipment by Greenspace Services.
All sites also undergo a four-weekly health and safety inspection
to the Royal Society for the
Prevention of Accidents (ROSPA) standard. There is an annual
programme of revenue investment to replace and to upgrade play
equipment.
Ground maintenance contract
Medway Council has a contract with Quadron Services for grounds
maintenance work. Two area contract officers monitor Quadron's
performance for the council against the contract specification,
which is a hybrid specification built around outcomes. It looks for
a finished product, irrespective of how often the contractor visits
a site or carries out tasks. It also has recommended frequencies
and considers quality and value for money. If you have questions
about grounds maintenance, please use the contact details below. A
quality management framework is in place which includes a standards
manual to inform quality of work expected from the contract.
The activities included the contract are:
- grass maintenance and associated activities
- sports turf management and pitch preparation
- provision of sports attendants at specified times
- horticultural operations, including border, rose and shrub
maintenance, care of annual bedding and hedge maintenance
- cleaning operations, such as bin emptying and litter picking on
Medway Council green spaces.
The grounds maintenance contract also works alongside
Medway Councils Highways Team, Housing, Libraries and corporate
offices.
Tree maintenance contract
Medway Council has entered a new contract with City Suburban
Limited and will undertake all tree works in Medway Council. There
are currently three tree officers who are monitoring contract
compliance and working with complaints and expectations. This
contract also works alongside highways and housing.
City Suburban Limited will be taking various tree works on some
of Medway Council's land. If you have any questions about tree
maintenance, please use the contact details below.
Park locking and unlocking contract

locking of parks with the Medway Community Officers. The following sites
