Planning -  How can we help you?

Medway Council's Development Management service deals with planning applications for all types of work from household extensions to major developments, such as power stations or large housing developments.

Customers can apply for planning permission online using the Planning Portal, a dedicated national website that also provides further information on the planning and appeals process in England and Wales.

If you do not want to use the portal to submit an application, you can download planning application forms from this website.

We do advise applicants to get in touch - scroll to bottom of page for contact details - to discuss their plans before submitting their application. There are some costs for pre-application advice as well as additional fees when the application is submittted.

For most building work, a separate application may be required to ensure any development meets current building regulation guidelines.

Customers can also use our Planning Online service to search for and comment on planning applications plus other information such as conditions laid down by the council or a planning inspector following approval of plans or successful appeals.  You can also read a list of planning applications received in the last week for your part of Medway.
