Wrapping paper

Wrapping paper has come a long way, but while today's foil wrapping paper and plastic-based wrapping paper make gifts look good, it causes problems for the recycling processes. Because it’s not just paper, we are unable to recycle it.

  • It could be dyed and contain additives; for example, glitter or plastics.
  • It is very thin paper and doesn’t contain enough good quality fibres to be recycled. Pure paper gift wrap (instead of foil) is much better for the environment as it can be recycled in your blue reusable bag, but ensure sticky tape, ribbons and tags are removed.
