Fostering Plus
Are you looking for a new job
that is both emotionally and financially rewarding?
If you have a sound understanding of
the needs of looked-after children who have experienced trauma, you
may be the person the council is looking for.
Aged from four years, some of these
children have been in so many different placements that they now
suffer from Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD),
Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) or Autistic Spectrum Disorder
(ASP).
Do you have what it takes to care for
them? If the answer is yes, find out how to
apply.
You will need:
- a high level of commitment to
children and young people;
- a home in which one carer
is not employed, as this is a
full-time job;
- a detailed home assessment;
- to attend support group workshops regularly.
In return, the council can give you:
a weekly allowance of at least £400;
- initial and continuing training;
- access to a 24-hour on-call service;
- psychiatric and paediatric support for children;
- personal counselling for carers;
- supervision from a fostering social worker.
The council will accept applications from people of all ethnic
backgrounds, couples or single applicants, male or female, gay or
lesbian.
