Motability Allowance

For someone to be eligible for any of the Motability Schemes, they must be receiving one of the following benefits:

  • Higher Rate Mobility Component of the Disability Living Allowance (HRMC of DLA),
  • War Pensioners Mobility Supplement (WPMS)

or be currently driving a government vehicle, trike or Mini.

They should expect to receive their allowance for the full length of the agreement they choose but applications are welcome as long as they have at least 12 months’ award length remaining when applying. Anyone who is not sure whether they are eligible should contact Motability's Customer Services on 0845 456 4566.

Financial help

If money is a problem or a specially adapted vehicle is needed, Motability may be able to provide a grant through its own charitable fund and other funds it administers on behalf of the government. Details of these funds and other items of information are given on the Motability website.
