Kent Homechoice
Medway Council is a member of Kent Homechoice, the Kent-wide
choice-based lettings scheme, providing greater choice and
involvement in choosing where you want to live.
The scheme allows you to express your interest in properties in
Medway that you may be eligible for and eventually properties
outside of the area.
Each fortnight properties are advertised via the internet,
digital television, and at local contact points throughout Medway.
The list of advertised properties is available on the Kent Homechoice
website every Friday from 6am when the bidding cycle
opens.
Applicants requiring assistance may nominate a friend, relative
or advocacy workers from an appropriate agency to apply on their
behalf or they can contact the council where we will be happy to
help.
To join the scheme
You must be 16-years-old or older. If you’re aged 16 or 17,
someone else, aged 18 or over, will need to act as guarantor on
your behalf until you are 18.
Current tenants:
If you’re already a council or housing association tenant:
- you must have a clear rent account;
- your home and gardens must be in an acceptable standard of
decoration and cleanliness. This will be checked by the council
before an offer of accommodation is made;
- you may not be able to join the scheme if you or members of
your household included in the application have a history of
anti-social behaviour;
- you are not eligible to join the scheme if you are subject to
immigration control;
