Medway Council is a member of Kent Homechoice, the
Kent-wide choice-based lettings scheme, providing greater choice
and involvement in choosing where you want to live.
The scheme allows you to express your interest in properties in
Medway that you may be eligible for.
Each fortnight properties are advertised via the internet,
digital television, and at local
contact points throughout Medway. The list of advertised
properties is available on the Kent Homechoice
website from 6am when the bidding cycle opens.
Applicants requiring assistance may nominate a friend, relative
or advocacy workers from an appropriate agency to apply on their
behalf or they can contact the council where we will be happy to
To join the scheme
You must be 16-years-old or older. If you’re aged 16 or 17,
someone else, aged 18 or older, will need to act as guarantor on
your behalf until you are 18.
If you’re already a council or housing association tenant:
- you must have a clear rent account;
- your home and gardens must be in an acceptable standard of
decoration and cleanliness. This will be checked by the council
before an offer of accommodation is made.
You may not be eligible to join the scheme if:
- you or members of your household included in the application
have a history of anti-social behaviour;
- you are not eligible to join the scheme if you are subject to

Bidding for a property
- You can bid for up to a maximum of three properties every
