or Medway residents who believe that a Medway Council tenant is

Council tenant please visit the Community Safety page to register your

Housing Services and anti-social behaviour (ASB)
Housing Services believes that
ASB, including racial and sexual harassment, is unacceptable in all
circumstances. Everyone has the right to live peacefully
within their own home and community, irrespective of their
religion, ethnic origin, disability, nationality, gender, or sexual
orientation.
Housing Services is committed to
working with other statutory and voluntary agencies to agree
effective measures to:
- prevent anti-social behaviour from occurring within our
communities;
- support vulnerable residents;
- take firm and prompt action when ASB occurs;
- where necessary, rehabilitate perpetrators back into our
communities.
Tackling nuisance and ASB is a key
part of delivering sustainable communities and improving the
quality of life of our residents.
Housing officers will investigate any
complaint of ASB regardless of whether a council tenant or
leaseholder is causing the problem. Housing Services is
committed to taking the appropriate action in disputes involving
council tenants and where necessary, against residents within our
communities who are not tenants of Medway Council.
Housing Services takes a
victim-centred approach that provides effective support and
protection for victims and witnesses of ASB. The Housing Management
team offer support and guidance to anyone affected by ASB involving
tenants of Medway Council. If, when investigating a complaint of
ASB, housing services finds that the victim or
perpetrator is vulnerable, it will try and provide additional help,
especially when dealing with cases of ASB that are occurring
because of drug use, alcohol abuse, mental health problems or
disability.
Housing Services has a robust
policy in place to deal with
ASB.
