Information for leaseholders

When you buy a flat or maisonette from the council it's sold on a long lease and you become a leaseholder.

Leaseholders pay £10 ground rent a year as well as a service charge for the cost of running services. Services include the following:

  • buildings insurance
  • estate services
  • shared heating
  • communal electricity and water
  • window cleaning
  • ground maintenance
  • repairs
  • major works

Further information can be found in our leaseholder handbook.

Leaseholder (Section 20) Consultation

We have a duty to consult leaseholders and Recognised Tenants Associations (RTAs) before carrying out works to a building or before entering into any long term agreement for delivering services. This is known as a Section 20 Consultation.
