Help with house repairs and improvements

Medway Council has been awarded funding from the Regional Housing Board to provide a range of assistance to help improve housing in Medway.

The council's aim is to reduce the number of vulnerable households living in non-decent homes. This assistance will help vulnerable homeowners to repair and to maintain their homes.

Useful links

  • In touch  is a registered charity that enables the disabled, vulnerable and elderly to remain in their homes by offering help, support and advice on home improvements, repairs and adaptations.
  • The Occupational Therapy Service provides assistance to people who are registered disabled or have a substantial physical disability. To find out about disabled adaptations, phone 01634 331262.
  • Age UK (www.ageuk.org.uk/money-matters) provides information on Community Care Grants, benevolent societies and equity release schemes.
  • If you are looking for a contractor to carry out improvements and repairs to your property, find out about the Fair Trader Scheme or phone Trading Standards on 01634 333555.
