Licences to keep exotic, dangerous or wild animals are issued under the Dangerous Wild Animals Act 1976. A list of such animals can be obtained from the council.
Licences are renewable annually. The council will arrange for the premises to be inspected by a veterinary surgeon to ensure the they are suitable for the welfare of animals. The licence will be issued subject to compliance with licence conditions and payment of the licence fee.
To apply for a licence, please contact Medway Council in the first instance so that specific requirements and conditions can be discussed. Following this initial discussion, an application form can, where appropriate, be sent in paper or electronic format.
