Except for those involved in very small contracts, contractors will normally be asked for various pieces of information about their company or organisation. The council will require greater detail the more valuable, complex or significant the contract is to the council. The following gives some idea of the information needed:
General details
- Name.
- Address.
- Status(e.g. sole trader, PLC, etc.).
- Directors.
Financial information
- Audited accounts for at least two years.
- Insurances.
Competence
- Current and past contracts.
- Sub-contracting proposals.
- Membership of and accreditation by trade bodies.

Details of the company's policies and procedures for ensuring equal opportunities. A statement of the council's policy can be found at equal opportunities.
Health and safety
Details of the company's health and safety policies and procedures.
Environmental management
Details of the company's environmental management policies and procedures.
