Partners with the community

Medway Council works in partnership with 148 local organisations, collectively called the Medway Local Strategic Partnership (LSP) including:

Providing services for all

The council's Community Interpretation Service can help agencies communicate with people who do not speak English and ensure that Medway's ethnic minority families have equal access to services from both statutory and voluntary organisations.

It is vital that all of Medway's local communities, some of which are among the most disadvantaged in the south-east, benefit from the regeneration of Medway in terms of more better-paid jobs and an improved quality of life. The council's Social Regeneration and European Affairs Service takes a co-ordinating role working with local residents, community organisations, the voluntary sector and other public service providers on projects that will make this happen.

Countering deprivation, supporting self-sufficiency and combating discrimination in all its forms, working actively to ensure equal access to jobs, services and active citizenship are core values of the council that shape the way services are provided to the community.

Supporting community groups

Medway Council's libraries hold information about the community and voluntary groups, while the Corporate Funding Unit has ideas and advice about winning funding from trusts and foundations for projects and groups in Medway.
