Directions
The crematorium is situated between Chatham and Maidstone in Blue Bell Hill village. Travelling time from junction 3 of the M2 is about three minutes and from junction 6 of the M20 about 10 minutes.
From M2 motorway
- Travelling in the coast-bound direction
Leave the motorway by junction 3 (A229 Chatham/Maidstone). Use the outside lane on the slip road. At the traffic lights at the top of the slip road, go straight across to the next set of lights, moving into the middle lane. From the lights, turn right and move into the nearside lane as you cross the motorway bridge. Go straight across the next set of lights, keeping in the nearside lane. *Take the next turning on the left (approximately 70 metres), signposted Blue Bell Hill and Crematorium. Continue until you pass the bus shelter on the left; negotiate the "kink" in the road and immediately after straightening up, turn sharp left into Robin Hood Lane. Medway Crematorium is along Robin Hood Lane on the right-hand side, immediately before the bridge.
- Travelling in the London-bound direction
Leave the motorway by junction 3 (A229 Chatham/Maidstone). Use the nearside lane on the slip road. At the traffic lights at the top of the slip road, turn left, keeping in the nearside lane. Follow the directions for coast -bound travel from the * symbol.
From M20 motorway
Leave the motorway by junction 6 (A229 Chatham). Follow the signs for A229 Chatham. The A229 is also known as Blue Bell Hill. As you travel up Blue Bell Hill, you will pass, on your left, a Shell garage next to a Little Chef (now closed). Continue up the hill and move into the nearside lane. Shortly before the top of the hill, take the small slip road (on the left) signposted Blue Bell Hill Village and Crematorium. At the end of the slip road, turn left into Common Road. Proceed to the end of Common Road (you will cross a bridge over Blue Bell Hill) where you will be opposite the Upper Bell public house. Turn left and drive through Blue Bell Hill Village. Take the second turning on the right, Robin Hood Lane, which is signposted for the crematorium. Medway Crematorium is along Robin Hood Lane on the right-hand side, immediately before the bridge.
From Chatham Railway Station
Medway Crematorium is very poorly served by public transport and you are strongly recommended to travel from the station by taxi. The taxi rank is situated immediately outside the main exit from the station. Allow a good 30 minutes if using this means of transport.
