Birth, death and marriage registration

The Medway Register Office moved to Northgate in Rochester on 31 March 2008. See map.

The accommodation is all on the ground floor and the premises are just a short walk from local car parks.

The Medway Registration Service provides courteous arrangements for:

• birth registration and stillbirth registration of any child born in Medway;
• re-registration of the birth of a child born in Medway;
• registration of the death of anyone who has died in Medway;
• registration of marriage for couples who wish to hold a wedding in Medway;
• civil marriages at the Register Office and other venues;
• ceremonies for the renewal of marriage vows;
• civil partnership registrations at the Register Office and other venues;
• naming ceremonies;
• birth, stillbirth and death declaration services for any of these events that occur outside Medway;
• taking notices of intention to marry for people resident in Medway;
• taking notices of intention to register a civil partnership for people resident in Medway;
• issuing birth, death and marriage certificates where the event has been registered in Medway since 1837;
• providing details of venues licensed for marriages and civil partnerships in Medway;
• facilities for searching birth, death and marriage entries;
• secure storage of birth, death and marriage registers;
• citizenship ceremonies.

The Register Office is open Monday to Friday, 9.30am to 4pm but please note that on the second Tuesday of each month, the office is open from 12noon to 4pm and that at weekends and bank holidays it opens for ceremonies only.
