If the coroner has arranged to hold a post mortem, the death cannot be registered until the coroner has sent to the registrar the details of the cause of death.
The coroner’s office will also provide the registrar with contact details for a family member or someone else who will make the registration. The registrar will make contact by telephone as soon as possible and arrange a time for the registration to be made.
If there will be a cremation, the relevant forms required by the crematorium will be issued by the coroner. If there will be a burial, the registrar will issue the relevant paperwork at the time that the registration is made.
