Current training and employment opportunities in Medway

To combat the current uncertainty in the business and employment markets Medway Council, in partnership with other agencies, is putting on business seminars, workshops and training programmes to help people remain gainfully employed or in training.

The tables below give details of forthcoming courses and events in Kent and Medway. Free tuition is available, subject to conditions, on some of the courses and participants may be eligible for compensation. Other courses are heavily subsidised and funding of up to £1,000 is available to eligible candidates to support business development. For regional support, the Manufacturing Advisory Service (MAS) in conjunction with South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) have put together a comprehensive set of measures to assist manufacturers fight the recession in the south-east. Find out more at www.mas-se.org.uk/events.

The south-east Leadership and management programme

Independent and impartial advice on personal development training

A specialist adviser will help identify personal training and development requirements and offer a choice of flexible learning solutions to suit individual and business needs. As part of the application process, a complimentary, tailored personal development plan will be provided.

A combination of training solutions to benefit your business including:

  • higher education qualifications;
  • solutions provided by training providers;
  • workshops;
  • online training;
  • training programmes;
  • bespoke and tailored training options;
  • peer learning;
  • business mentoring and coaching.
Continuing

This offer is available to companies in the south-east with five to 250 staff members. The learning programme can be funded up to a maximum contribution of £1,000. The first £500 is available to managing directors, owner-managers and company directors and does not need to be matched. A further grant of up to £500, which must be match-funded, is available to any senior manager or the management team. All training must start and the grant must be claimed within 90 days of the grant being approved. All grants are exclusive of VAT. Previous beneficiaries (the same director or manager within the same organisation) of Business Leader Funding are not eligible to apply.
