Economic development and social regeneration

The social regeneration team work with local residents, community organisations, the voluntary sector and other public service providers ensuring existing communities have access to the benefits of Medway’s regeneration.

These benefits include:

• Individual neighbourhood action plans
• The maintenance of local community centres
• Community cohesion programmes
• Employment advise and support
• Training of hard to reach communities
• Economic inclusion of existing disadvantaged communities

The above lead to higher value and quantity of employment and improvements to community quality of life. This principle applies particularly to existing communities in Medway, some of which feature among the most disadvantaged in the south-east.
