The foundation supports the following broad areas of work:

  • the provision of advice, information and advocacy;
  • community development;
  • neighbourhood mediation, conflict resolution and alternatives to violence;
  • research and education aimed at changing public attitudes or policy;
  • social welfare aimed at making a long-term difference and empowering users.
BBC Children in Need www.bbc.co.uk/pudsey This appeal supports projects that aim to make a positive difference or change to the lives of children who are disabled or disadvantaged, through poverty, neglect or abuse.
Charles Hayward Foundation www.charleshaywardfoundation.org.uk The foundation makes grants for medical research, care of the elderly, youth at risk, community facilities, special needs, hospices, art, preservation and the environment.
Esmee Fairbairn Foundation www.esmeefairbairn.org.uk

The foundation aims to improve the quality of life, particularly for people and communities that face disadvantage and funds projects in the following four areas:

  • social development,
  • environment,
  • education,
  • arts and heritage.
Foundation for the Sports and Arts Grant www.thefsa.net This foundation provides assistance in the UK to further athletic sports, athletic games, recreation and the arts to improve the quality of life for the community. Its priority is given to measures to increase participation in and enjoyment of sport and the arts, regardless of levels of competence, and the active participation of young people.
Groundwork www.groundwork.org.uk Groundwork is a federation of trusts in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, each working with their partners to improve the quality of the local environment, the lives of local people and the success of local businesses in areas in need of investment and support.
Lankelly Chase Foundation www.lankelly-foundation.org.uk

The foundation funds community projects in the following broad priority areas:

  • arts,
  • breaking the cycle of abuse and deprivation,
  • developing communities,
  • heritage,
  • mental health,
  • offenders and society.

In addition, there is a limited programme of support for organisations working with refugees and asylum seekers.

Paul Hamlyn Foundation www.phf.org.uk This foundation's funding priorities are towards increasing access to the arts for young people and arts in education, including: Musical Futures; a range of publishing training schemes, education of the disaffected and disadvantaged, the Reading and Libraries Challenge Fund, and aid for young refugees and asylum seekers.
The Ragdoll Foundation www.ragdollfoundation.org.uk This foundation supports imaginative and innovative projects which promote the development of young children through the arts. Preference is given to projects that apply to children during their early years, although appropriate projects for older children which show promise of developing potential, progress and well-being may also be considered.
Tudor Trust Fund www.tudortrust.org.uk

The trust aims to break cycles of dependency and disadvantage, especially in urban, rural and coastal areas and has 10 areas of interest:

  • youth,
  • older people,
  • community,
  • relationships,
  • housing,
  • mental health,
  • health and substance misuse,
  • learning,
  • financial security,
  • criminal justice.
